NIGERIA WINS CAFRAD PAN-AFRICAN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD

The African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD), in recognition of the federal government reforms in the civil service has awarded the 2016 Pan-African Public Service Award to Nigeria.


The award, specifically was as a result of the strategies deployed to achieve an Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-Centred (EPIC) Service and also for the submission made by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) titled “Agency Self-Improvement Tool–Federal Public Service of Nigeria,” an Institutional Self-Assessment Tool (SAT).
The ‘Agency Self- Assessment Tool’ with the acronym (SAT) is -an online portal- developed by the BPSR and aimed at assisting agencies and parastatals to assess themselves against local and international practices to improve performance and conduct of government business. The ‘Agency Self-Assessment Tool’ is built around nine (9) main domain areas of local and international good practices.
These are Strategic Governance, Financial Management, Strategic Planning and Budgeting, Procurement Processes, Operational Service Delivery Processes, Human Resource Management and Planning, Partnership and Resource Mobilization, Key Performance Management and Results; and Change Management.
CAFRAD’s main objective of the award is to honour the African Public Institutions for their creative contributions to establish more dynamic and responsive Civil Service. This annual competition is organized in order to give priority to the role, visibility and professionalism of the African Public Institutions.
The CAFRAD Pan-African Public Service Award for Innovation and Improvement of Public Service Quality-Institutional Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) and EPIC was received by the dynamic and passionate reformer, the Head of the Civil Service of the federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita in Marrakech, Morrocco in July, 2016.
